Great kiting in Tuscany

You don't have to travel huge distances for good quality spots. We visted Talamone and fell in love with the place...

This spot has it's own micro-climate that always adds a couple of knots to the wind conditions in the surrounding area.

The beach is not huge but it's also not pure sand, which keeps the sun-bathers away, and in fact the area is frequented almost exclusively by wind enthusiasts.

The bay has knee-waist high water for about 100 meters from the shore, so it's a great place for beginners, and perfecting those new tricks.

We made contact with the local kite school a couple of days before going down ( www.kitesurfuniversity.com) and David (pictured) was very helpful in pointing out which days would be best to come.

Once there, the school was well equiped to cope with our varying levels of kiting abilites, from competent instructors to a compressed air hose which leads down to the beach.

We stayed in a camper van in the carpark behind the beach, but there are many argriturismi in the area offering reasonably priced accommodation, and of course the food and wine in the evenings is just incredible!
